lil louis love

I purchased the book, To My Sweetheart by Louis Cannizzaro, at the Scottsdale Museum of Art the day before Valentine's day.

I. Fell. In. Love.

This artist/poet is spectacular. I read my lil book 4 or 5 times that night...pretty sure a tear or two fell...and I tried to order all of his other books online (had a hard time with that and still don't have them). I will forever be enthralled by his lovely visions and simple prose. I hope you enjoy it too. See some selections in his online gallery here.

This reminds me of the first summer My Guy and I spent together. It was in Flagstaff. We lived in a tiny studio dorm room (not enough space to do sit ups, no kitchen, questionable bathroom.) We were broke as hell...summer jobs weren't paying out the dough we would have liked. No money for fancy Friday nights. It was, however, full of morning hikes and free afternoon golf. Our evenings were spent attending the community movies on the square, happy hour at the Boardwalk, or playing tennis under the campus flood lights. God. That was a great summer.

I miss My Guy a lot right now. I wish he was here to explore the northwest with me.

way to sachet

Loved the fine craft show I attended yesterday with my aunt and uncle. Loved it. Some people are so gifted with imagination and talent that we should feel lucky that they choose to share their inspirations with the rest of us. I just wish I had a few hundred extra bucks so I could buy everything that I was smitten with. I did have $5. So I bought 3 felted lavender sachets...and they happen to be the cutest lil things ever. One for my car, my closet, and my gym bag. No more stinky or stale scents in my life.

Felted Style has an etsy shop (where she sells pretty pillows, fabric, wall decor, rugs, etc...) and her online gallery here.

saturday in seattle

Tomorrow I'm heading over to the Seattle Center to take in some inspiration at the fine crafts show. It looks pretty spectacular. I'm going on this artistic adventure with my extraordinarily hip and cool aunt and uncle who are quite possibly the most interesting people I know. And my uncle promises to make me one of his famous poached eggs for breakfast. Tomorrow is going to rule.

Awesome that I don't have a camera that actually works. Might have to bite the bullet and buy one while I'm living here. I can't imagine missing the opp to photograph these things (like my apts brown shag carpet, or the ridiculously gorgeous meals my aunt and uncle create together, or the dainty pink flowers on the tree outside my front door.) Can't miss that stuff. That stuff is life.

mr. english teacher

So proud of My Guy today. This is his final day of student teaching, which means tomorrow he's a full fledged Mr. High School English Teacher! We need more wonderful people like him in the classrooms...SMART people....people who KNOW their subjects....who LIKE young people...who have HIGH expectations of their students...who are EXCITED to be there.

You, my love, will be superb.

thanks tiff

French niche

How do I find this pretty French hide-a-way? I'm sure that if I found it, I'd never leave it. Ever. Well, maybe to buy fresh baguettes from the town bakery. But other than that....no...I wouldn't leave. I didn't get to explore the French countryside like I did that of England and Scotland...I guess I should go back, right? From this online travel magazine.

breakfast nook

What a divine space for dining (especially brunch!). I think my dream dish would be a warm cheesy quiche. With a mimosa of course. Via Anna Williams Photography.

lanterns

Whereas that table looks a lil too unstable for my taste...those lanterns are pure genius. (I want to hold onto this idea for when I have my own house...which will probably be in like 20 years at the rate I'm going). Neat-o space. Found here.

jane joss

Got the Etsy email about these this weekend and I had to have 'em on here. They are pretty and nifty...pretty nifty. I must admit I've never seen anything like them (they are made using real twig branches!). I think they are a great plant for those who lack a green thumb....hummm...perhaps my mom would love one. Mother's Day is right around the corner. Buy them at Jane Joss.
