Well let me just preface this by saying that I got my first cell phone in 2002 - as a sophomore in college. I had about 200 min or something a month, and it was crazy ass expensive so I hardly used it for fear of going over. It did come in handy Friday nights to connect with my buds at the downtown bars...and I would call home every now and then...but my cell was not "a part" of my life.

Not a whole lot has changed. Except now I don't have a landline, so I use my cellular multiple times daily and I don't know how I would get on without it. But I'm not one of those folks who is "in love" with their phone (I constantly hear people use this expression, and it literally cracks me up every time).

While at the hospital today, I was told that I should really consider getting a Blackberry PDA - there are loads of applications that can help me look brilliant while on clinical rotations.

So - how the heck do I pick one out!? I'm way intimidated.

I've decided to separate my blogs a bit...this one will continue to include the thoughts and delights of yours truly. However, as I want this to be my "forever" blog, I don't want to bog it down with wedding details. There is more to me than the title of "bride to be!" Therefore...I will continue to infuse some wedding inspirations...of course...but it will be more of my journey through life.

And well, that's that.

My 'wedding only' blog can be found at a.mountain.bride. I will be making it more of a resource blog for other mountain brides...there just isn't a whole lot out there geared for that and I want to share what I discover!

My Guy and I have (seriously!) decided to commit to a wedding location...Flagstaff!!

Bring on the aspens! The pine trees! Nature trails! The peaks! The tasty local brew (my fave: Railhouse Red from Beaver Street)! Upstairs at the Weatherford! Monte Vista! Late For The Train! Route 66! The Museum Club! The Arb! Old Main!

You will all learn about these fantastic Flagstaff wonders as the days go by. No doubt.

While in Rhode Island, one of the most adorable states in the country, I finally made up my matrimonial mind (for the gazillionth time). I decided that a Rhode Island wedding would be ideal. Remember, My Guy is from the Ocean State and his entire family lives there, as do the majority of his best friends. I went to college out there and a handful of my most cherished friends do to. Makes the most sense to bring the party to them! It's the people that make the memories.

It's no secret that Rhode Island is everything charming and lovely. So, I got on it while I was out there. Started talking to my girls, started getting the low down on venues, churches, accomodations, activities. Pretty much planned the whole event on my six hour flight back to Phoenix. This was what I devised:

Ceremony venue: Beavertail Light House (we picniced there on our first date *sigh*)

Reception venue: Mount Hope Farm (it just doesn't get more New England! Plus, the grounds are gorgeous, and though it may be a little tight on the budget, it would be fun and different)



Food: New England Clam Bake = yum!

As far as cakes and invites and overall decor...no idea...but it will come. Eventually.


So then I got home and straight GUSHED my ideas to My Guy while hardly breathing between ideas and sentences. He listened, with a smile, and then told me that he actually really wants to get married in Flagstaff. He feels that it is so us, and that he's spoken to his fam and friends and apparently a good number of them are stoked about traveling to Arizona.

Awesome.

I love my girlfriends. They make me smile. I spent the weekend at a bachelorette party in Rhode Island. There I was, surrounded by many of my East Coast college girlfriends...laughing till I couldn't breathe, singing till I was hoarse, bustin' moves I had forgotten existed, and having the time of my life. Life is all about the people in it.

I jumped into the Blogosphere head over heels without so much as an introduction. Let me take a tiny step back and do so - I am a Phoenix girl with too many freckles to count and unruly curly hair. The coolest guy I know happens to love me to the moon and back, and switched area codes to become a desert dweller from his rad East Coast existence. We cohabitate, recycle, hike, eat granola, believe in sustainability and consider ourselves tree hugging outdoorsy folks with a myriad of interests. However, my friends would probably describe me as a JCrew wearing medical student/art fanatic, whereas he is usually described as being the hugest sports fan ever/athlete/high school English teacher. We are what we are.

We have begun the involved process of planning our wedding (which is the PC way to say that I am in the process of planning our wedding). We have approximately $0 to plan this shin dig, what with gazillions of dollars in student loan debt lingering over our heads. Needless to say, this will certainly be an adventure, and I'm looking forward to it! I hope this webspace helps me organize the chaos in my bridal brain so the rest of my life can seem unhindered (we'll see if that actually happens!).

This will be one interesting year!

The weather in Phoenix this week has been heavenly which leads to my addiction of being in the fresh air. During an exploratory walk to find a little cafe for lunch today, I came across a lovely find - a quaint neighborhood rose garden! In Phoenix!? I had never heard of such a thing. It was tucked into a corner along a rather busy road, and I'm very surprised that I had never noticed it before. I ate my lunch under the ivy laden gazebo, and inhaled the intoxicating aroma of the luscious roses that surrounded me. The huge blooms made me think that a few of those stems would be the most beautiful bridal bouquet - elegant and fuss free.
