they were young too

Marilyn Monroe

I'm fascinated with old pictures. You don't even want to know the obsession I have with my family's old photographs. I cannot get enough. I am so hypnotized with the images of my parents at my age...and of my grandparents at my age. When I was little I was drawn to their childhood likeness, and now I'm drawn to the images of their 20's.

I find these younger photos of these celebs to be wildly entertaining. Check out all 125 rare photos of famous people here...via emilyabigail

i heart ny

Etsy artist ScarletBeautiful

OK. I know I've mentioned it before. But today it all became OFFICIALLY official:

I got my #1 ranked residency program...and I'm moving to upstate New York.

You don't even know how excited my bones are. And the sense of calm my heart feels knowing that it's OFFICIAL. And real. And happening.

My world is going to change. In a big apple kinda way. I think I'm ready.

pregnant polaroids

here

Talk talk talk of babies all around me. I sorta love it all. I have a pregnant friend. Who is the cutest. And one of my besties had brand new lil baby a couple months ago. Who is the cutest.

I wonder if I will have a lil one someday. Or a lil two or three. I sure hope so.

Sometimes the mommy "belly" pictures scare me. But I think this Polaroid action is way fun.

twinkle lights

There is something so enchanting about Christmas here in New England. The way the lights sparkle in the morning mist on my drive to work...or how it reflects off of the glittering white snow...oh... it is all just so dazzling.

I find these images to be quite divine. Found at this spectacular photography blog: Montague.

childhood

via Bloom, Grow, Love

Remember the magical light of childhood? Today, I saw some little girls playing in their front yard. I was surprised that it made me sad. I miss that. I miss playing with my sisters in the lush grass of our Grammie's house...or in our backyard pool...or with our American Girl dolls. I miss being read to every night by my mom.

Sometimes I think about it and it shocks me that I'm not a kid anymore.

way to go sis

I send out a HUGE congratulations to my kid sister who took her Step I medical school boards today. She is brilliant and kind and generous and will be a phenomenal doctor in two years. I'm so immensely proud of her!

Time to celebrate! With balloons! And martinis!

cutest maturnity pictures

I've been following Pacing The Panic Room for a couple months now...and gawd I enjoy it. It chronicles a family preparing for their second child as captured through the pictures and thoughts of the daddy (who happens to be a photographer/artist and he writes the loveliest things about his wife and their family.) It is the sweetest reflection of baby growing I've ever seen. She makes pregnancy look adorable! Though I'm pretty sure I will never wear spandex as a pregnant woman....or as a non-pregnant woman.

cruiser dreams

I can't honestly say that I would use it if I had one, but every time I see one I want it. I might ride it to the library. Maybe to Hob Knob Cafe. Perhaps to the Basilica downtown, or the Art Museum for free Thursday evenings. Maybe.

paris memories

Kari Herer captured so many lovely lovely images while on a journey to Paris. I think back to my pictures of Paris, a trip I took with 12 high school friends back in 2000. We collectively took pictures with our shotty little disposable cameras of eachother posing infront of every monument and every sculpture (and Jim Morrison's grave...). I was also traveling with my high school sweetheart so there are dozens of pictures of the two of us holding hands in the rain strolling down the Champs de Elysees, kissing atop the Eiffel Tower, and posing with linked arms infront of the gardens of Notre Dame. Oooo to be 17 and in love....

However, we took no pictures of the flower stands, despite the fact my heart would skip a beat every time we would walk by one. No pictures of the lovely window boxes overflowing with blooms, or the decorative window signs of the quaint shops and cafes. We took no pictures of Parisians in the corner cafes, or the croissants we ate for breakfast every morning, or even the artists painting at the park below the Eiffel Tower. Bummer.

Souvenirs purchased at 17 are amusing. I purchased things like a red sweatshirt with "PARIS" printed in large black and white block letters across the front (classy), three original watercolor prints from Montemarte (I was the only one on our trip to buy art...interesting, no?), and a print of Psyche and Eros from the Lourve (which left me speechless when I first saw it). Oh, and a few tiny Eiffel Tour charms for my sisters. My friends bought things like baseball caps, shot glasses, and Hard Rock "Paris" shirts (doy to all three) but we were kids. What do you expect.

Anyway. I see these photos. It takes me back to that magical place. And I'm enchanted all over again...

oregon coast

This morning, at the ass crack of dawn, my mom (my road trippin' companion for this leg of the journey) and I will set out. I convinced her that I desperately needed to drive down the coast of Oregon - and she nodded - she felt the same way. So that's where we are headed today. To see what spectacular looks like.

These fantastic Oregon Polaroids are from Dyrofferies.

something warm

see it here

Damn. It is freezing here tonight. It's raining outside my second story circa 1950s apartment window. I don't dare venture out there...my Arizona blood would turn to ice I'm sure. Even though it's toasty comfortable in here, I sense the cold out there...which creates this fantastic cozy feeling. Except, I'm alone. Which makes it all a little less fantastic.

When I saw this picture, I visualized the exact feeling I'm experiencing right now...do you feel it?

Doesn't she just make you smile? Found this little lovely outside of Olympia Pizzeria on the very top of Seattle's Queen Anne (recommend that place by the way - wicked yummy pizza.)

coastal views

Yea, me and My Guy will be adventuring up the west coast this weekend...wahoo! That's right...up the Cali coast through Oregon to Seattle. I totally dig road trips...especially when they are with My Guy (he's pretty much the best).

*gotta buy a sweet camera so my pics can be as rad as hers.

mountain air

Went up to Flagstaff on a spur of the moment day journey...
had a cup of coffee...
drove up the mountain...
checked out the view...
purchased a lil music...
inhaled as much mountain air as possible...
ate lunch at the museum club...
drove around a bit...
bought a diet coke...
came home.

perfection.
