pregnant polaroids

here

Talk talk talk of babies all around me. I sorta love it all. I have a pregnant friend. Who is the cutest. And one of my besties had brand new lil baby a couple months ago. Who is the cutest.

I wonder if I will have a lil one someday. Or a lil two or three. I sure hope so.

Sometimes the mommy "belly" pictures scare me. But I think this Polaroid action is way fun.

looking into the past

Oh this is too cool for words. Totally the project I can get giddy about and maybe even render a skip or squeal or something...I'm not kidding. I LOVE historic glimpses...I adore seeking out well preserved tidbits of civilization...how they once lived...what it looked liked...what it tasted like (cue old family recipes!) Such a sucker for this stuff. Must have inherited it from my mom :-)

my quilt

I love the look of this quilt (via here) - I want to crawl in and stay for a few hours.

I was making a quilt. I started last March...and haven't picked it up again since last July. It's no where near it's completion...I always assumed when I moved back to Arizona I would have lots of time to work on it (I was wrong.) And I realized a couple weeks ago that I never once washed some of the fabric before I started compiling the squares. So I washed the squares. And it unraveled the edges, distorted the shapes, and ripped some of the pieces. I ruined it.

Such a heartbreak.

I will fix it though. At some point.

*note: this isn't my quilt...I am enamored with looking at quilts online...and this is one of those captivating finds of someone's work.

yesterday

english muse

For the past 2 weeks straight I've been in the hospital so long everyday I haven't seen the sunshine. Pathetic. I know. And I'm in Arizona. I even quit wearing my sunscreen. And then on the weekends I've shut myself up in my room to CRAM for my medical boards. CRAM.

And then yesterday happened. My love drove to Tucson to spend the day with me on Valentine's Day. And I put the books aside. I saw the sun...and felt the breeze...and smelled some flowers...and kissed him a lot. I feel rejuvenated. And a little more in love than ever before.

Now it's back to the books.

dandy doilies

I have to remember to make this someday. It's BEAUTIFUL.

Ummm...I don't actually own any doilies...but I'm willing to take up crocheting so I can make this for my table. Ummm...I don't actually have a dining table yet...but someday.

I have a lot of "someday" dreams.

needle stick

The stormy Tucson weather must be quite a site. I wouldn't know. I've been in the hospital over 16 hours everyday for the past two weeks.

Today, my miserable general surgery rotation got a whole lot worse when I stabbed myself with a dirty suture needle in the operating room. I proceeded to get yelled at by the surgeon (no surprise...it was when he was yelling at the nurse that I jumped and stabbed myself in the first place)...then 5 hours of paperwork, blood tests, and educational counseling on the risks of such a thing. It wasn't until my 3rd hour sitting in the emergency department listening to another nurse rant about HIV did I start crying.

I was crying. In the emergency department. We don't know if the patient has Hepatitis or HIV or whatever. Bummer.

I think this classifies itself as a bad day. I sorta wish I had this crazy cute band-aids to slap on my arm instead of the flesh-colored one I'm currently sporting.
